Shia LaBeouf's rent-a-dad
Shia LaBeouf used to rent his father. The 'Transformers' actor has revealed he paid his dad Jeffrey £400-a-week to spend time with him on the set of Disney TV series 'Even Stevens' when he was a teenager.
Shia said: "Before I landed the role in 'Even Stevens' I barely knew my dad, but because I was a minor I needed to have an adult on set. Dad had just been released from veterans' hospital, where he'd gone through drugs withdrawal. So I paid him £400-a-week to be with me. For him it wasn't about being with a son that he loved. He was rent-a-dad. He was getting some money and he was staying off drugs. For three years we lived in a motel and that's when we started to get our relationship back on track. In a very real sense this business gave me my father back and I'll always be grateful for that." LaBeouf can next be seen starring opposite Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett in 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull', which is due to hit cinemas next month.
-----------Shia LaBeouf's mother crush
Shia LaBeouf's mother has a crush on Harrison Ford. LaBeouf, who plays Indiana Jones' sidekick Mutt in latest film 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull', says his mother was in a "state of shock" when he took her to the set to meet his co-star Ford. He said: "My mother has a huge crush on Harrison so I brought her on set and he was very nice to her. But she couldn't believe this was going on!"
The 21-year-old actor - who also starred in last summer's hit movie 'Transformers' - said he had to cancel plans to continue with his education to be part of the film. He added: "I thoroughly thought I was going to go to school. But the way I look at it is - there's no acting school on the planet that could put me on the stage with Cate Blanchett or film school that's going to put me in the cage with Steven Spielberg."
----------Shia LaBeouf's not guilty plea
Shia LaBeouf entered a not guilty plea on a charge of unlawful smoking yesterday (19.03.08). The 'Transformers' star's attorney Michael Norris appeared in a court in California's Burbank to enter the plea stemming from an incident that took place on February 18. It was reported yesterday that an arrest warrant had been issued for LaBeouf after the actor and Norris failed to turn up at court for the initial hearing.
However, Norris has revealed the warrant was ordered but never issued, meaning the 21-year-old actor was not in danger of being arrested. The warrant order has now been withdrawn. An arraignment and pre-trial hearing has been set for April 24. LaBeouf - who can soon be seen starring alongside Harrison Ford in 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' - was also arrested in November for reportedly refusing to leave a Chicago pharmacy.
