Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds have announced their engagement to People magazine. “They're both thrilled,” gushed Johansson's spokesman Marcel Pariseau (brilliant name), who went on to say the couple haven’t set a date yet. Meanwhile, Reynolds has been given the seal of approval by fellow actor Hugh Jackman. Jackman recently revealed he feels protective of Scarlett, whom he met while filming Scoop and The Prestige, but has given Ryan the thumbs up, calling him, “one of the funniest guys I've ever met. He's phenomenal.”

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are engaged. The 'Definitely, Maybe' actor - who has been dating Scarlett for more than a year - popped the question to the actress who excitedly said "yes". Scarlett's representative Marcel Pariseau confirmed: "They are both thrilled." The couple is yet to set a wedding date. The 23-year-old star proudly showed off her diamond ring at New York's Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala last night (05.05.08), accessorising it with a tight Dolce and Gabbana dress. Hugh Jackman - who became close friends with Scarlett, after starring with her in 'Scoop' and 'The Prestige' - recently gave the couple his blessing.
He said: "Ryan Reynolds is one of the funniest guys I've ever met. And we had a really good chat about his girlfriend, because I'm very fond of Scarlett. "Both my wife Deborra-Lee Furness and I are very proprietary about Scarlett, but Ryan gets big thumbs up from me! I'm giving my blessing - Ryan is phenomenal." Ryan was previously engaged to 'Ironic' singer Alanis Morissette, but they split in February 2007 after four years together. Scarlett has previously been romantically linked to Josh Hartnett and Benicio Del Toro.

“I’ve heard from people who are friends with him that he’s very pleased with it. He’s been really supportive - not from the sidelines, but from a far, far distance. “It was constantly in the back of my mind that if we did something Tom Waits hated, he’d come at me with a hammer.”

Scarlett Johansson and Louis Vuitton threw a party recently to celebrate the brand’s new collection. The ‘Love’ capsule collection by hot designer Marc Jacobs showcased the brand new logo, which was emblazoned on bags, sweat tops, scarves and tank tops. The curvy actress, who is the face of the new campaign, was joined by A-listers including tennis star Serena Williams, singer Michael Stipe and model Eve Salvail.
Marc Jacobs’ muse and accessories designer Camille Miceli told Grazia that the inspiration behind the range came from the idea that you cannot spell the word ‘love’ without the letters ‘LV’. She said:” Marc Jacobs has had the idea for a long time now- he created the insignia a few years ago.”
