The couple jetted off to their New Mexico ranch to exchange vows again, before a small group of close friends. The actor was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the beginning of 2008, and is fighting for his life, according to America's the Globe. Swayze and Niemi will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary on 12 June and the actor is determined to live up to that date and beyond. An insider tells the publication, "He is refusing to give up, but right now he's living for today." The source insists the renewed wedding vows were very special for the couple: "It was very important to him (Swayze) to express his love and commitment to Lisa. They both mean the world to one another." The Globe recently revealed Swayze has drawn up his will to include plans for his own funeral, and he has settled all his affairs - just in case he suddenly loses his cancer battle.
The Dirty Dancing star continues to undergo treatment in Stanford, California, but close friends insist the future doesn't look too bright for the movie star. Swayze's Rep Blasts Ailing Woman's Cancer Site
------------------------------------------------Patrick Swayze's representative has blasted an Indiana family for illegally using the actor's likeness in an online campaign, which calls for new cancer treatments to be made available in the U.S. The Loughmans of Indianapolis launched their new initiative on Monday in a desperate bid to find a cure for the family matriarch, who ironically is a big fan of the ailing Ghost star. Connie Loughman was diagnosed with deadly pancreatic cancer last summer, just months before Swayze was diagnosed.
As part of their public campaign to force U.S. medical bosses to make the treatment possible, the Loughman family has launched the website CureConnieAndPatrick.com - which uses the actor's name and photo to promote the cause. The site features information about Connie's struggle with the illness, and prompts people to leave messages of support for the Ghost actor. But Swayze's spokesperson is angry the star has been directly linked to the campaign without the Loughmans seeking his consent, according to TheCelebrityTruth.com. The representative says, "Patrick is not aware of this website, and he has no association with it or the medication it advertises. He is not affiliated with the woman from the site; Patrick had no knowledge of her."
Indiana Family Gives Swayze Hope
-----------------------------------Movie star Patrick Swayze has been given a huge boost in his pancreatic cancer battle - an Indiana family has launched a campaign to force U.S. medical bosses to make a revolutionary new treatment available to sufferers.
As part of their public campaign, the Loughman family has launched the website CureConnieAndPatrick.com and they've also produced a new video promoting their efforts.
A spokesman for the Loughmans says, "Well-meaning, but misguided, regulations have tied the hands of the Food & Drug Administration and the biotechnology firm, Genvec, from providing access to the only drug shown to cure the disease. Meanwhile, 90 percent of patients die within one year of being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and 95 percent are dead within five years of diagnosis. The Loughman family hopes that public pressure will convince the Fda and biotechnology firm, Genvec, to cut through the red tape and grant access of the gene therapy Tnferade to Mrs. Loughman... and others battling pancreatic cancer, including actor Patrick Swayze.
"Swayze Is Still Acting
--------------------------Patrick Swayze is rallying against reports he has ended his acting career due to his current battle with pancreatic cancer - insisting he didn't drop out of a new movie because of his illness. The Dirty Dancing actor had reportedly withdrawn from the role of a gay cheerleading coach in Fired Up, while he undergoes chemotherapy treatment for the life-threatening disease. But his representative has revealed he pulled out for "artistic" reasons - and also because he is waiting to discover if network A&E are to commission a TV pilot he has shot called The Beast, reports the New York Daily News.
Swayze's Mystery Surgery
-----------------------------Actor Patrick Swayze underwent surgery on a mystery complaint in California over the weekend. The Ghost actor checked into the Stanford University Medical Center for a serious "gastro-intestinal procedure," according to the New York Post.
