Nicolas Cage's British Christmas
---------------------------------Nicolas Cage is set to fulfil a lifelong dream and spend Christmas in the UK. The Hollywood star has always wanted to celebrate the festive season in England so is flying all his family over from the States. Cage - who has a two-year-old son, Kal-El, with wife Alice Kim,said: "This year I'm doing something new. I'm going to be in the UK. "I've always wanted to have a Charles Dickens-style traditional English Christmas ever since I was small so I'll be bringing the whole family over and we'll spend it in England. Maybe it will snow. Maybe!" Cage is fast becoming a committed Anglophile.
Earlier this year, the 'Ghost Rider' spent nearly £5 million on a British castle. Isabel Briggs - the seller of the 18th Century gothic abode, located near Bath - said: "There is a bit of fantasy about the castle but what appealed to him is the rather romantic landscape - we have a beautiful valley with its own woods. When he visited in May he walked all around the estate and decided that this was for him." The 60-acre estate boasts an orangery, two cottages, a ruined chapel and 11 acres of woodland. Cage already has an impressive property portfolio, with 14 homes dotted around the globe worth around £33 million. They include a Californian beach house which once belonged to late actor John Wayne.
Nicolas Cage's stranger shock
--------------------------------Nicolas Cage was awoken by an intruder in his home who was wearing his clothes. The Oscar-winning actor found Robert Furo Jr. wearing his jacket as he shuffled through his Newport Beach house shortly before 1.30am on Monday (01.10.07). Cage reported the strange male to his community's gate guard, who called the police. The 'Ghost Rider' star escorted Furo outside, where officers arrested him without incident a few moments later. Police said there was no sign of forced entry and Furo didn't cause any trouble.
Cage's wife Alice Kim and their two-year-old son Kal-El were also asleep in the house at the time. The 45-year-old man - who claimed to be a tailor - pleaded not guilty to a charge of felony burglary yesterday (02.10.07) and is currently still in jail. Bail was set at $100,000 and Furo is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing October 10.
King of the castle Nicolas Cage
--------------------------------------Nicolas Cage has spent nearly £5 million on a British castle. The 'Ghost Rider' star intends to move into Midford Castle, which is located near Bath, with his wife Alice Lim and 21-month-old son Kal-El this September after his bid of £4.75 million was officially accepted. Isabel Briggs, the seller of the 18th Century gothic abode, told Britain's The Independent newspaper: "There is a bit of fantasy about the castle but what appealed to him is the rather romantic landscape - we have a beautiful valley with its own woods. When he visited in May he walked all around the estate and decided that this was for him."
The 60-acre estate boasts an orangery, two cottages, a ruined chapel and 11 acres of woodland. Cage already has an impressive property portfolio, with 14 homes worth around £33 million. They include a Californian beach house which once belonged to John Wayne. Last year, he bought a crumbling 28-room fortress in Bavaria for £1.2 million. Cage joins a growing list of Hollywood stars who have set up home in the UK. Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Spacey, Cate Blanchett all own properties, while Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna both moved to the UK after marrying British men.
Nicolas Cage's Circus home
------------------------------Nicolas Cage is buying a £4 million mansion in the UK. The 'Con Air' actor is reportedly close to completing the purchase of a historic five-storey Georgian townhouse in Bath. The six-bedroom property, which was built in 1754 and was once home to the Earl of Chatham, is situated on the city's exclusive curved millionaires' row known as The Circus.
One neighbour said: "We're told he has bought it but don't know if the sale has gone through yet." Estate agent Knight Frank confirmed that a prospective buyer had put in an offer, but would not give any further details. Cage, 43, already owns a German castle, an island in the Bahamas and properties in Los Angeles. The 'Ghost Rider' star is not the only Hollywood actor to fall for the charms of the Gloucestershire city. Johnny Depp and his long-term partner Vanessa Paradis recently paid £500,000 for a Bath farmhouse. Depp and Paradis moved from France to their new English residence with their children, five-year-old John Jack and Lily-Rose, seven. The couple are said to have fallen in love with the area while Depp was filming the movie 'Chocolat' in 2000.
