Katie Holmes' Broadway debut
Katie Holmes is set to make her Broadway debut later this year. The 29-year-old actress is reportedly in final negotiations to star in a New York revival of Arthur Miller's post-World War II play 'All My Sons' alongside stage veterans John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest.
Britain's Daily Mail columnist Baz Bamigboye revealed: "The actress has committed to taking part in a private workshop of the play in May. She will play the part of a woman who visits her former neighbours, the family of a missing pilot she once loved." Katie, who last tread the boards in high school, has assured the play's British-born director Simon McBurney and producer Eric Falkenstein that she is serious about working in the theatre.
The former 'Dawson's Creek' star is desperate to be recognised for her acting skills and not just the wife of Tom Cruise. Kate - who married the 'Top Gun' actor in November 2006 - received critical acclaim for her performances in 'Batman Begins' and 'Thank You For Smoking', but decided to take a break from acting after giving birth to the couple's first child Suri in April 2006. The brunette beauty made her big screen comeback in the comedy heist 'Mad Money' alongside Queen Latifah, which was released in the US earlier this year.
----------------------------------'Better' Katie Holmes
Katie Holmes says motherhood has changed her for the better. The 'Mad Money' actress, who is married to Tom Cruise, has become less self-absorbed since giving birth to 21-month-old daughter Suri.
She said: "I feel better. I feel that before having Suri I was so into myself because I had no one else to be into. I just had to take care of me. Having children puts boundaries in your life. It really organises things and I like organisation! "I love being a mom. I'm so inspired by my mom and I want Suri to feel as happy as I always have been in my life." Katie also says having "magical" Suri has improved her relationship with Tom.
The former 'Dawson's Creek' star said: "I never thought that our relationship was a whirlwind. I've always felt very comfortable and happy with everything. "When you have a child it feels like you're reading an encyclopaedia a day. And you're always behind, because children grow so fast and they're so magical. Suri's so magical! So things are good."
----------------------------Katie Holmes' pilot lust
Katie Holmes thinks husband Tom Cruise is "hot" when he pilots a plane. The former 'Dawson's Creek' actress - who married Tom in Italy in November 2006 - finds the actor's ability to fly a jumbo jet a real turn-on.
She said: "I don't give it a thought when Tom pilots a plane. He knows what he's doing. When he decides to do something he does it. It's great - it's hot!" Although she is blissfully in love with Tom, Katie still makes time to see her girlfriends as much as she can. The 'Batman Begins' star - who has a daughter, Suri, with Tom - thinks it is incredibly important to have strong female friendships. She added: "I'm very aware of the pressures, especially on young women. It's so cool when you see women working together and being friends. I like having girlfriends. I went to an all-girls academy for high school and I still have friends from back then. "There wasn't any backstabbing. The myth of mean girls is overblown. You find out your girlfriend is getting married or having a baby and you are there for her. That's powerful - that's what we as women do for the world."
------------------------------------Katie Holmes' baby deadline
Katie Holmes' plan to have a baby this year have been jeopardised by the Hollywood writer's strike, it has been claimed. The 'Mad Money' star - who was reportedly hoping to have another baby with husband Tom Cruise by December - was due to start filming new movie 'The Other Side'in Nova Scotia this month, but the project's financing has been delayed due to the ongoing writers' dispute.
A source told America's OK! magazine: "She had it all figured out. She would shoot 'The Other Side' and then get pregnant. She was hoping to have the baby by the end of the year, go back to work next spring and have another film out by the end of 2009. "Both she and Tom - especially Tom - were hoping to have their next baby before Katie turns 30 in December." Katie and Tom, 45, already have a 21-month-old daughter, Suri, together.
The former 'Dawson's Creek' actress said in December: "I'd love to have more children. But I'm in no particular rush." 'The Other Side' also stars Jason Lee and Woody Harrelson and was due for release this autumn.
