Carrey To Pen Depression Self-Help Book
----------------------------------------------Actor Jim Carrey is writing a self-help book for sufferers of depression who want to avoid using drugs to beat the condition. The Fun With Dick And Jane star battled with depression for years after his meteoric rise to fame in the 1990s, using Prozac and other medication to try and control his dark thoughts. But the 46-year-old states numbing the pain with medication is not the way to deal with the problem, and hopes his new book will help people focus on where their problems stem from.
He says, "I dealt with depression for a while by medicating with Prozac and although it was good for dealing with the problem there and then, I wasn't getting to the bottom of my anger and frustration. I think we have a real problem these days in that everything is treated with a drug. I think there's a whole new way of healing depression that doesn't require drugs, and I'm writing a book about it. Who better than a comedian to talk about depression right?"
Carrey Goes Naked on Letterman
---------------------------------Jim Carrey shocked fans on David Letterman's late night talk show last Monday, when he showed up in a bathrobe and then stripped naked. The comedian performed a skit pretending he'd forgotten about the switch to daylight saving time on Saturday night, and was being massaged in his hotel, when he should have been on the show.
After dashing onto the set wearing just a robe, socks and slippers, Carrey told Letterman, "I was at a spa at the hotel. I was in the middle of an incredible massage. Then Svetlana started talking about daylight saving time. I immediately went flaccid and I ran right over here."
He then hid behind a chair, stripped down to nothing and got dressed in clothes handed to him by an assistant called Lance. Carrey also produced a prop gun he told the host was for scaring paparazzi photographers: "I'm not a very good shot. It's really about the paparazzi. Once you start waving that about..."
Carrey & McCarthy Dismiss Pregnancy Report
--------------------------------------------------Comedian Jim Carrey and his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy have denied a report claiming they're expecting their first child together. McCarthy's TV presenter friend Chelsea Handler made an impromptu announcement during her U.S. talk show on Tuesday. The broadcaster told her audience: "And by the way, Jim, Jenny wanted me to tell you - she's pregnant."
But Carrey and McCarthy insist their friend got it wrong. A spokesperson for McCarthy says, "She is not pregnant." Carrey has a 20-year-old daughter named Jane from his first marriage to actress Melissa Womer, while McCarthy has an autistic five-year-old son, Evan, with her ex-husband director John Asher.
