Paltrow's Accident Left Her With Numb Leg
Clumsy Gwyneth Paltrow has been left with permanent numbness in one of her legs after breaking her knee while making new movie Iron Man. The actress tried to act on through the pain, before discovering the injury needed surgery.
She says, "I broke my knee - because I'm a moron and I'm always bashing into things by accident. I've broken my toes 30 times. I don't know what's wrong with me. I bashed my knee, it really hurt." The accident even caused a bust-up with director Jon Favreau, who was convinced she was exaggerating her pain: "I kept exercising and running around in the movie. Then it really started to expand. In one scene I'm running away from Ironmonger - the bad Iron Man - and I said to John, 'My knee is really hurting, I don't know how many times I can do this.' He was rolling his eyes, saying 'you're fine'. But I went to the doctor and I had a fracture so bad they had to do surgery the next day.
They put cement in there! So I felt very smug and he apologized. It still doesn't feel right. I had a nerve problem. My legs don't feel the same. Sometimes it happens with surgery. If I get a wax, one leg hurts more than the other."
------------------------------------Paltrow Suffered Post-Partum Depression
Gwyneth Paltrow suffered post-partum depression following the birth of her two-year-old son Moses. The actress, who is married to rocker Chris Martin, makes the revelation in the May issue of Vogue magazine. Following the birth of her son a year ago, Paltrow explains, "I felt really out of my body. I felt really disconnected. I felt really down… I felt pessimistic." But she claims she didn't realize she had a problem, until she had recovered - and she believes her mini-depression came about because she stopped undergoing acupuncture while she was pregnant. Paltrow has another child with Martin, daughter Apple, who turns four next month.
-----------------------------------Jay-Z & Beyonce Are Husband and Wife
Superstars Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles are now husband and wife, a close friend of the couple has revealed. The couple is alleged to have married in a private ceremony at a chapel in Scarsdale Village in Westchester, New York, on Friday afternoon, surrounded by around 30 friends and family. The all-white ceremony was attended by Knowles' mother Tina and father Mathew, and her younger sister Solange. Also in attendance were Knowles' star's former Destiny's Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, Jay-Z's mom Gloria, and pals Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow.
The wedding party then moved on to the rap mogul's luxury New York penthouse apartment in the TriBeCa area of the city, where a marquee had been erected on a terrace at the building. The marquee was also decorated with five-foot tall candelabras and 60,000 elegant white orchids, which had been flown in from Thailand at a cost of $500,000. The wedding reception was reportedly attended by more than 200 guests, including producer/music mogul Jermaine Dupri and his girlfriend Janet Jackson, R&B singer Usher, rappers Wyclef Jean and Kanye West, producer Pharrell Williams, and Knowles' Dreamgirls co-stars Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx.
And the low-key wedding celebration was exactly what the couple had in mind. On Friday, the source told People.com, "It happened earlier this evening. Jay wanted it to be a really private affair - close friends and family." But the newlyweds, who have been dating since 2002, will not have time for a honeymoon just yet - Carter is currently in the middle of a North American tour with hip-hop/soul queen Mary J. Blige. Instead, the couple is reportedly set to celebrate their nuptials at a luxury $8,000-a-night hotel on the Caribbean island of Anguilla later this year.
------------------------------Stars Pay Tribute to Minghella
Hollywood stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey and Ralph Fiennes have paid moving tributes to Oscar-winning film director Anthony Minghella who died on Tuesday. The British filmmaker - who the won Best Director Oscar for his 1996 movie The English Patient - died from complications following surgery for cancer of the tonsils and neck, which he underwent last week at London's Charing Cross Hospital.
He was 54-years-old. Paltrow, who starred in the director's Academy Award-nominated film The Talented Mr. Ripley alongside Jude Law and Matt Damon, stated she was "shocked" by the news, calling Minghella "a wonderful man." American Beauty star Kevin Spacey, who was a close friend of the Cold Mountain moviemaker, says, "He was one of the greats and anybody who loves storytelling will realize that he had much more to do and it's an incredibly sad moment.
I just found out and he was a great man and a great friend." Brit actor Ralph Fiennes, who was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his starring role in Minghella's The English Patient, fondly remembers his time working on the hit film with the late director. He says, "Anthony possessed a sensitivity and alertness to the actor's process that very few directors have. He directed most of The English Patient with an ankle in plaster, never losing his gentle humor and precision. His films deal with extreme aloneness and the redemptive power of love, even at the moment of death. I will remember him as a man who always wanted to get to the heart of the matter."
