Daniel Radcliffe's dog guard
Daniel Radcliffe wants two ex-SAS soldiers to guard his beloved dogs. The 'Harry Potter' star - who has been assigned a security team after receiving a death threat - wants the specially trained men to walk his Border Collies Binka and Nugget because he is petrified they will be kidnapped and killed by his crazed stalker. The 18-year-old star also originally demanded 15 men guard him, but he was only assigned four - all of who used to work for the elite British army force, the Special Air Service (SAS).
His management reportedly responded to his initial request saying: "You're Harry Potter not J.Lo." Daniel - who is currently shooting 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' - was left fearing for his life after the deranged fan, believed to be in his 20s, showed up at his home and several of his favourite West London restaurants. The stalker's threat - which was received via Warner Bros. who are producing the movie - has been taken so seriously that on Saturday night (01.03.08) the actor switched cars three times as he went to and from the film set. Daniel's regular driver - used by the star for seven years and considered "part of the family" - has been temporarily replaced.
Daniel Radcliffe's Spielberg denial
Daniel Radcliffe insists rumours Steven Spielberg is to direct the seventh 'Harry Potter' film are "absolute rubbish". The 18-year-old star, who plays the boy wizard in the franchise, says as far as he knows the legendary filmmaker is not involved in the final instalment of the series.
Speaking on the red carpet at yesterday's (10.02.08) BAFTA awards ceremony in London, he said: "It's absolute rubbish that Spielberg is directing the final film. It's not true. There's absolutely no foundation in that at all. "I have no idea how that rumour started or where it came from. It's not true. How's that for a definitive answer?" Daniel also revealed filming on the sixth movie 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' is going well. He told British radio station Heart: "We're getting through it alright. I'm really enjoying it. We're about six months in and we've only got four more to go."
Daniel is currently on diet in preparation for the Broadway run of hit play 'Equus', in which he appears fully naked. He said: "I need to diet more. I started over Christmas and lost seven pounds."
Daniel Radcliffe's war role
Daniel Radcliffe will star in a new war movie. The 'Harry Potter' actor has signed up to appear in 'Journey', in which he will portray tragic photographer Dan Eldon, who was stoned to death during the devastating civil war in Somalia, East Africa, in 1993. Radcliffe fought off stiff competition from other Hollywood stars including Heath Ledger, Joaquin Phoenix, Ryan Phillippe and Orlando Bloom to land the role, after Eldon's family decided he would be perfect for the part. The late photographer's mother Kathy said: "We resisted a lot of older actors because Dan was a boy emerging into manhood. The timing is right and the person is right and I couldn't ask for more.
"He has portrayed a magician for years and my Dan was a different kind of magician. There are parallels in the two Dans' lives. "Daniel Radcliffe is a poet, he keeps journals and he is half Jewish. He has a sense of humour and energy inside him which reminds me of Dan."
Eldon was just 22 when he was murdered in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu. The film will be based on his diaries 'The Journey is the Destination', which were published in 1997.
Daniel Radcliffe's New York penthouse
Daniel Radcliffe has spent £2.1 million on a New York penthouse. The 'Harry Potter' star's luxury new apartment is located on the fifth floor of a 13 storey block in Manhattan's exclusive SoHo district.
Radcliffe plans to rent the property out for $20,000 per month until he moves in just before the Broadway run of Peter Schaffer's hit play 'Equus' - in which Radcliffe strips off nude -starts in September 2008. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the two-bedroom property, which boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and multiple bathrooms, is one of the "sexiest new developments" in the area, according to the actor's letting agent Chris Pomeroy. Radcliffe, who has an estimated fortune of £23 million, will also have access to a 50ft swimming pool, sauna and steam room and "hotel-like" services when he becomes a resident.
After getting his hands on his fortune on his 18th birthday last July, Daniel claimed he didn't "have any plans to buy anything extravagant", adding: "The things I like buying are things that cost about £5 - books, CDs and DVDs."
J.K. Rowling's naked Harry wish
J.K. Rowling wants Harry Potter to be completely naked in the next movie. The Scottish author saw Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the boy wizard in the big screen adaptations of her magical book series, strip off on the London stage for his role in 'Equus' and joked it would be interesting to see her character in the buff. Daniel said: "When Jo came to see 'Equus', she popped backstage afterwards and said, 'In the next film, Harry's going to be naked all the time!' "
The 18-year-old actor also confessed he feels he can be a disappointment to his female fans when they met him in real life. He added: "I don't think I intimidate them. I disappoint them if anything. Because on screen everyone looks cool. In real life they don't look as good. I don't, anyway."
Daniel is being replaced in 'Equus' by Lily Allen's brother Alfie. He is set to go on a nationwide tour starting in Chichester on January 31.
Daniel Radcliffe's Equus romance
Daniel Radcliffe is reportedly dating his 'Equus' co-star. The 'Harry Potter' actor was photographed shopping with pretty actress Laura O'Toole, who appeared in the hit West End show with him. An onlooker said: "They were definitely together, but as soon as they saw the cameras, Daniel and the girl tried to look as distant from each other as possible.
"Both stuck their hands in their pockets and tried to look cool and collected." Laura, 22, understudied for the role of Jill, whose character appeared in a lengthy nude scene with Daniel. Although she only appeared alongside the 18-year-old star once, in place of leading lady Joanna Christie, the pair are said to have grown close during the play's run, which finished in June.
Daniel recently said he couldn't date an actress - because they're "completely barking". He said: "I think it would be very hard to go out with an actress, because they're mad. "Some actresses are just insane. I've never worked with a nasty actress - they're all absolutely delightful. But completely barking."
