Farrell: "Weight Loss Is Healthy"
Actor Colin Farrell has sparked fears for his health after he appeared at a press conference looking alarmingly gaunt - but he insists he's merely shedding weight for a film role. Farrell, 31, shocked reporters when he showed up to promote his upcoming movie Triage - in which he plays a war reporter in 1990s Bosnia - during a trip to Spain. He tells People.com, "I lost weight because my role demanded it. It was all very healthy."
The Irish actor did not elaborate as to how he lost the weight, instead quoting a line from the Scott Anderson novel on which the movie is based: "He went to the bathroom to shave. Once his beard was gone, he saw that his face had become drawn. He pressed at the hollows beneath his eyes, the pronounced nubs of his cheek bones." But this is not the first time Farrell's appearance has prompted speculation of ill-health. The actor was released from a rehab facility in January 2006 after a spokesperson for the actor confirmed his voluntarily admittance to the program in December 2005 to seek treatment for his use of recreational drugs and painkillers.
Farrell: "Playing Ledger's Part Is a Painful Honor"
Movie star Colin Farrell has confirmed he'll be among the stars acting out scenes tragic Heath Ledger never got to shoot in his final film, confessing it'll be an "incredibly painful tribute." The Irish actor, Jude Law and Johnny Depp will help director Terry Gilliam complete the film he started with the late Ledger.
The superstar trio will pick up the role Ledger was playing in The Imaginarium Of Dr. Parnassus before he accidentally overdosed on prescription drugs last month. And Farrell admits he was flattered to be asked to help Gilliam complete Ledger's last film. He tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph newspaper, "I will be honored to be part of that. It makes me feel uncomfortable to think about it too much and to get into it really here, but it's an incredibly painful honor... and an honor I wish wasn't bestowed (on me), but an honor none-the-less.
It's about getting Heath's work out there... He's too good for any of his work not to be seen, you know, and I'm really keen and looking forward to doing it and just doing the best job I can do." The film, about a magical traveling theatre, also features movie veteran Christopher Plummer. Production on the London set has been suspended since just before Ledger's death.
Farrell Accuser Arrested for Prostitution
The woman who tried to sue Colin Farrell for sexual harassment has been arrested for prostitution. Dessarae Bradford launched and lost a legal battle with the Irish actor in 2005, claiming he pestered her with text messages. She later burst onto the set of The Tonight Show while Farrell was being interviewed by Jay Leno.
Now Bradford is challenging a Los Angeles police officer who arrested her in an undercover sting. She explains, "I was falsely arrested for prostitution - it breaks my heart to even type the words down. A guy drove up to me, called to me very friendly and chipper. Being the social animal that I am, I went over, figuring he was just some guy looking for where the party spots are. Or maybe he wanted to see if he could get my number."
In a forthcoming lawsuit, Bradford reveals she plans to sue for sexism, ageism, racism, civil rights violations, profiling, entrapment, slander, libel, emotional distress "and much more."
Farrell "Stalker" Apologizes
The woman accused of stalking Colin Farrell told a court on Monday she was sorry for confronting the Irish actor during his appearance on America's The Tonight Show in July. Dessarae Bradford, 31, admitted her actions were over-zealous, but insists her "relationship" with the Miami Vice star was real. Bradford, who has previously written a book about her alleged affair with Alec Baldwin, believes Farrell "just wanted to be book number two." She fumed, "He's trying to give the impression that I'm some stalker, some delusional fan, which is absolutely not true."
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled in July Bradford must keep at least 492 feet away from Farrell until the court hearing last month. The restraining order has since been extended to 2009.
Farrell's Ex To Receive Millions If Sex Tape Is Released
Actor Colin Farrell's ex-girlfriend, former Playboy Playmate Nicole Narain, will receive a $3 million advance payment if the sex tape the couple made together is released. The Phone Booth star is suing Narain and trying to stop the release of the sex tape they made three years ago during a brief romance.
According to documents posted on website TheSmokingGun.com, Narain signed a deal with Internet Commerce Group (ICG) in October 2005, for a seven-figure payout to distribute the 14-minute video. The agreement guarantees Narain $100,000 whether or not the explicit video can be marketed, and also calls for her legal fees to be paid up to $60,000. Farrell is seeking general and compensatory damages, as well as an injunction prohibiting the promotion and sale of the tape. US Superior Court Judge Elihu Berle quashed Narain's request to have the case dismissed Monday and advised her lawyers to file a response to Farrell's suit instead.
