Jones & Cotillard Join 'Nine' Cast
Catherine Zeta-Jones and French actress Marion Cotillard have won coveted roles in Chicago director Rob Marshall's new movie musical Nine. The European actresses were among many top stars in the running for roles in the big screen adaptation, and now Marshall has confirmed his cast for the project. Zeta-Jones and Cotillard will join Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem in the film. Italian screen siren Sophia Loren will also appear in the film, which will be directed, produced and choreographed by Marshall. Nine revolves around fictional filmmaker Guido Contini, who re-examines his past romances in the midst of a nervous breakdown.
The musical claimed the Tony Award for Best Revival when it returned to the Broadway stage in 2003. That production starred Antonio Banderas, Chita Rivera and Jane Krakowski.
--------------------------Zeta-Jones Cooks Up the Perfect Sandwich
Catherine Zeta-Jones has created the perfect sandwich - but husband Michael Douglas refuses to eat it because it's "gross." The No Reservations actress reveals she has always been partial to smoked salmon sandwiches on brown bread with potato chips in the middle crushed down, and now she's added lemon juice, salt and pepper. She says, "I had them during each of my pregnancies and I actually had it two nights ago for dinner as well. It's one of those comfort foods I really love. Michael hates it. He thinks it's gross... There's plenty of things I like to eat that make him really wants to throw up - like Marmite."
-----------------------Zeta-Jones Dropped by T-Mobile
Screen beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones will no longer be the face of phone giant T-Mobile from next year, as the company have no plans to renew her contract. The Ocean's Twelve star has appeared in American advertising campaigns for the firm since signing a reportedly multi-million dollar contract in 2003, also taking the role as their glamorous spokesperson. But T-Mobile claims to want a more down to earth, "man on the street" persona to tout their upcoming range of internet phone products.
T-Mobile spokesman Peter Dobrow says, "When Catherine Zeta-Jones agreed to be our spokesperson four years ago, we could never have imagined the cache appeal she would have brought to T-Mobile. Her style, credibility and integrity have been a tremendous benefit for our company and our brand. We could not have asked for a better partner in launching T-Mobile than Catherine Zeta-Jones."
-----------------------------Douglas and Zeta-Jones Decide "No More Children"
Hollywood couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have decided not to have any more children. The pair had planned to add to their brood, Dylan, six and Carys three - plus Cameron, Douglas' 27-year-old son with ex-wife Diandra Luker - but have decided to settle on two. Douglas says, "I think Catherine's resigned to the fact. She's gone back and forth on the subject, but when she gets back into work, I think she realizes that two's enough and I say to her, 'Just think of your stepson as your third child.'" The couple have only appeared in one movie together, Traffic, though they never shared any scenes together in the Oscar-winning film.
------------------------Zeta-Jones Cooks Up a Storm in Restaurant
Catherine Zeta-Jones baffled guests at a New York restaurant when she waited on their tables as research for her latest film role. The multi-talented Welsh actress even tried her hand in the kitchen of Manhattan's acclaimed Fiamma eaterie to prepare for romance Mostly Martha, in which she plays a top chef who unexpectedly becomes the guardian of her young niece. Cooking colleagues claim Zeta-Jones was so good at her job, she fooled all her customers.
A source tells People magazine, "One night she did a little serving. A few people said to her, 'You look so much like Catherine Zeta-Jones.' And she said, 'Oh, I get that all the time.'" Her restaurant boss Michael White adds, "She's been doing a lot in the kitchen - sautéing and cutting. She's a great garnisher. Drizzling oil and balsamic on plates - she does a nice job."
